Synephrine: Alternative to Ephedrine?

July 7th, 2007 by Paul Johnson

After the FDA ban on OTC ephedra, bodybuilders quickly looked for a OTC supplement alternative. Synephrine seems to be that herb.

About Synephrine:

Synephrine is derived from Citrus aurantium, a small citrus plant also known commonly as “bitter orange”. It is chemically very similiar to Ephedrine, which is the active ingredient in previous OTC supplements containing the herb Ma-Huang.

Synephrine Vs. Ephedra:

Synephrine will produce all the fat loss benefits of Ephedrine, but
users report to have less side effects. However, caution just like with ephedra should always be taken. Just like Ephedrine it can be used in combination with Caffeine to increase it’s effectiveness.

Synephrine Recommendations:

Make sure Synephrine is standardized for 3 - 6% synephrine. Start out with low dosage to assess your tolerance.
